Benzene prices decrease in global markets last fortnight

The prices of benzene decreased in global markets in the last fortnight ending April 30, 2014, compared to the previous fortnight ending April 15.
 
In Asian markets, the prices of benzene showed soft outlook and prices declined due to weak demand from the downstream buyers.
 
In Korea, the average price of benzene in April 2014 worked out to US$ 1275/ton, which was a decrease of 1.83 percent over the average price of $1300/ton during the same month last year. On May 10, benzene price was assessed at $1260/ton.
 
In India, the average price of benzene fell by 1.54 percent to $1275/ton in the last fortnight, as against the price of $1295/ton in the previous fortnight. On May 10, price was offered at $1270/ton.
 
In Japan, benzene average price in the last fortnight was $1275/ton, which was 1.16 percent lower than the average price of $1290/ton in the previous fortnight. On May 10, price was quoted at $1265/ton.
 
In Europe, the average price of benzene in the last fortnight was $1470/ton, down 0.68 percent as against the average price of $1480/ton in the previous fortnight, due to weak buying sentiments coupled with ample of product availability in the region. On May 9, prices were spotted at $1385/ton.
 
In US, the average price of benzene in the last fortnight was quoted at 460 cents/gallon, lower by 4.17 percent vis-à-vis the average price of 480 cents/gallon in the previous fortnight, due to sluggish demand from downstream buyers and ample product availability in the market.
