PET chips prices dip in Northeast Asia last fortnight

The prices of PET chips decreased in Northeast Asia in the last fortnight ending May 15, 2014, compared to the previous fortnight ending April 30, due to subdued demand from downstream buyers.
 
In Northeast Asia, the average price of SD (Semi dull) chips was quoted at US$ 1170/ton in the last fortnight, lower by 0.85 percent as compared to the average price of $1180/ton in the previous fortnight. On May 26, 2014, prices were assessed in the range of $1175-1195/ton.
 
The average price of Bottle-grade chips was assessed at $1190/ton in the last fortnight, lower by 2.06 percent, as against the average price of $1215/ton in the previous fortnight. Prices were assessed in the range of $1200-1220/ton May 26.
 
In the Chinese domestic market, the average price of semi dull chips in the first half of the last fortnight was around RMB 8,005/ton, while super bright chips was around RMB 7,830/ton and CDP chips price was around RMB 9,250/ton.
 
In the second half of the last fortnight, the average price of semi dull chips was around RMB 7,985/ton, whereas the average price of super bright chips was around RMB 7,800/ton. Prices of CDP chips remained stable. 
 
In Korea, PET bottle grade chips prices remained stable and mainstream offers were around $1280-1300/ton during the first half of the last fortnight. Prices remained stable in the second half of the last fortnight. Prices were assessed in the range of $1260-1280/ton on May 26. 
 
In Europe, spot prices were assessed at € 1080/ton during the first half of the last fortnight, whereas in the second half of the last fortnight, prices were assessed at € 1085/ton. Prices were assessed at € 1100/ton on May 23.
