Asian benzene prices surge sharply last Friday

Benzene prices surged by US$ 40/ton across all Asian markets on Friday, last week due to higher upstream energy prices and increase in downstream product prices.

On Friday, prices were assessed at US$ 1340/ton FOB Korea, which was a hike of US$ 40/ton as compared to the price of US$ 1300/ton on the first day of last week. In Japan, prices showed similar trend and were assessed at US$ 1345/ton on June 13.

In India, prices were assessed at US$ 1350/ton on Friday, vis-à-vis US$ 1310/ton on Monday of last week.

However, prices remained steady on Saturday.
