Asian PX trends steady last week from low upstream prices

Average Paraxylene (PX) prices stayed almost steady last week in Korea and SE Asia, due to lower upstream product prices coupled with strong selling activity in the region.

In Korea, prices opened at US$ 1425/ton FOB Korea last week, higher by US$ 85/ton as compared to the same period of the previous week but fell down during the week.

Average PX prices were spotted at US$ 1370-1375/ton FOB Korea last week, same as compared to average prices in its previous week.

However, during the current week, Korean PX trends fell further and were quoted at US$ 1325/ton on August 20.

In S.E. Asia, PX trends were assessed at US$ 1395/ton CFR S.E. Asia last week and during the current week; they fell further and were quoted at US$ 1350/ton on August 20.
