European & US benzene trends dip from low demand last week

Benzene prices showed downward trend last week in Europe and US markets, mainly from sluggish downstream demand, lower upstream energy prices and fall in downstream product prices.

In Europe, prices were assessed at US$ 1415/ton at the beginning of last week, which gradually declined during the week and were assessed at US$ 1395/ton by the end of the week.

Benzene contract prices for August were settled at € 1082/ton CIF ARA, higher by € 6/ton as compared to the contract prices of July.

In US, prices were assessed at 490-495 cents/gallon at the beginning of the previous week, which went down to 480-485 cents/gallon at the end of the week.
