China Petrochemical Development Corporation (CPDC), a supplier of three major types of synthetic fibres including nylon 6 fibre, acrylic fibre and polyester fibre, has delayed the start of its new caprolactam (CPL) line.

“The new CPL line was scheduled to start this month, but now the start-up schedule is postponed to next year,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

“The start-up has been delayed due to tight supply of raw material in Taiwan,” the official further informed.

The new CPL line has been set up at Toufen in Taiwan, and it has a production capacity of 100,000 tons/yr.

CPL is the main raw material for making nylon 6 fibres and resin.

CPDC is the sole CPL manufacturer in Taiwan and is among the top 5 CPL manufacturers in the world.

“CPDC will continuously expand the plant capacity, maintain high capability and great competitive edge to be among the top 3 CPL manufacturers in the world,” the company says on its website.
