Ube Industries is adding 40,000 tons of additional nylon 6 manufacturing capacity at its Spanish subsidiary, UBE Corporation, which will take the capacity of the Spanish plant to 70,000 tons per year and will start operation in early 2018. To meet growing demand for nylon 6, UBE had last year expanded capacity by 10,000 tons per annum at the Spanish facility.

The new nylon plant will use UBE proprietary technology helping it to produce various types of medium and high viscosity nylons and copolymers.
Applications for these materials include the automotive industry, food packaging, manufacture of industrial monofilaments, fishing nets, engineering components, etc.
UBE is one of the largest nylon producers in the world, producing nylon 6 resin at three plants worldwide, with a total manufacturing capacity of 158,000 tons per annum. (AR)
