Just last week, the company had cut prices for PTA and MELT whilst keeping MEG prices stable. Previously, it had augmented the prices of PSF from ₹2 to ₹104 per kilogramme for the current fortnight.
According to market sources, RIL has set the prices as follows: PTA at ₹86.60 per kilogramme (an increase of ₹1.10), MEG at ₹50.10 per kilogramme (unchanged), and MELT at ₹91.51 per kilogramme (an increase of ₹0.95). These new prices for polyester raw materials will take effect from the upcoming Saturday.
RIL determines the prices of polyester raw materials through a review of the price trends in China and fluctuations in crude oil. The Indian market adopts the price trend set by Reliance due to its dominant role in the industry. The company is raising the prices of PTA and MELT following a restriction on imports due to the implementation of a quality control order (QCO) on polyester staple fibre and its upstream raw materials.
