Polyester staple fiber (PSF) market fluctuated widely in the first quarter of 2012.

The price of 1.4D x 38mm PSF was 11,700 Yuan / ton in early January 2012, which rose to 12,450 Yuan / ton in early February, up 6.4 percent within a month.

This rise was significantly higher than increase in prices of raw cotton which grew 2.3 percent in the first quarter.

However, PSF prices began declining mid-February onwards and fell by 1,200 Yuan / ton by the end of March, to 11,250 Yuan / ton, or down 9.6 percent.
