The demand of polyester filament yarn (PFY) in China is likely to grow between 10-12 percent this year, according to market analysts.

They predict that the demand for polyester products will grow by about 10 percent in 2013. Accordingly, the demand of polyester staple fibre (PSF) will increase by about 6-7 percent, while the demand of bottle flakes will grow 10-12 percent, and demand of PFY will rise by 12-13 percent.

China’s production capacity of polyester products has increased due to large-scale expansion in recent times. This has impacted the market.

The capacity expansion is not limited to polyester fibres, but is also extended to other chemical fibres, which provides more raw material choices to downstream consumers.

In view of the same, the 10 percent likely growth of polyester demand is an ideal situation, analysts say.
