Several new polyester manufacturing plants are likely to begin production during 2013 and 2014 in China, which may greatly impact the Chinese polyester market.

According to statistics, many new projects for manufacturing polyester-based products are planned to be functional by 2014, which will together add around 4 million tons to China’s overall polyester production capacity.

The Tong Kun Changxing Limited Company, a major Chinese firm dealing in polyester and PET products, has already completed testing of its 400,000 tons differential fibre project.

Other upcoming polyester projects include a melt-spinning functional differential fiber project with a capacity of 300,000 tons/year by Jiangsu Ying Xiang Chemical Fiber Co. Ltd., which has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.

In addition, there are 10 other companies that have their polyester filament projects ready to be put into operation or currently under construction, with capacities in the range of 300,000-400,000 tons.
