Government has resolved to investigate the polyester staples (PSF) sector to make an appropriate decision about the anti-dumping duty on imports from South Korea and Taiwan.
This move suggests anxiety that suppliers might carry out illegal trade activities once the duties expire in June 2007.
Japan imposed 6.0 to 13.5 percent anti-dumping charges on PSF in July 2002, claiming that South Korean and Taiwanese products were sold at extremely low prices and adversely affected the domestic industry.
While Taiwan has fought anti-dumping duties in the US, South Korean PSF industry is still facing anti-dumping duties from both, the US and the EU.
