In the month of August this year, Man-Made Fibre (MMF) output reached 239,113 tons, representing a drop of 6.3 percent as compared to the same month last year.

This decline in production is an attempt by manufacturers to improve margins by restricting production.

Meanwhile polyester filament producers also adopted the similar process, and the output was recorded at 66,994 tons in August, representing year-on-year decline of 5.5 percent.

During the January-August 2006 period man-made fiber output fell 3.1 percent to 1,857,315 tons while polyester filament was constant at 539,808 tons.
