The textile sector in Japan used 494,900 tons of polyester, 304,300 tons of filament and 190,000 tons of staple fiber. Most of the consumption was concerned with local made fiber and filament as 76.7 percent of polyester belonged to domestic manufacturers.
Home textile was the biggest product group which consumed 178, 000 tons of fiber and filament. On the other hand, apparel companies used 161,800 tons while industrial groups consumed 154,800 tons of fiber and filament.
