Paraxylene remained volatile in the beginning of this week. Price increased to US $925-935 / ton in S E Asian market. Weakness in the PX was felt due to poor downstream demand.
June is the traditional Chinese off-season for PTA consumption, despite which PTA spot prices opened with firm sentiment in Asia and was trading in the range of $850-880 / ton (CFR China main port, including anti-dumping duty of 4.2%)
Price of ethylene fell down further, and speculators expect it to go down below $995 / ton. Today price was assessed around $1000 / ton in S E Asian market while in N E Asian market it was around $1,000-1,010 / ton.
MEG prices bounced back in tandem with allied polyester raw material. MEG price increased to $750-755 / ton.
