PSF prices 25% higher in India than China, both follow similar trend

Polyester staple fibre (PSF) prices are currently around 25 per cent higher in India compared to China. However, the manmade fibre has shown a downward trend in both markets. Over the last six months, PSF prices have increased in the Chinese domestic market, but they have recently decreased to $1.00 per kg. A similar trend was observed in the Indian domestic market, where the prices were recorded at $1.26 per kg in the first week of this month. 

PSF prices in the Chinese domestic market were $0.99 per kg in the first week of June 2023. After a steady trend in July, they increased by 4.04 per cent to $1.03 per kg in August. The prices further rose by 1.94 per cent to $1.05 per kg in the following month. However, PSF prices decreased by 1.90 per cent in October and by 2.91 per cent to $1.00 per kg. The prices are stable this month, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro. 

In India's domestic market, PSF was priced at $1.26 per kg in June 2023. It decreased slightly by 0.79 per cent to $1.25 per kg. However, the prices increased by 3.20 per cent in August, 1.55 per cent in September, and 1.53 per cent in October 2023, reaching $1.33 per kg. But it fell by 3.76 per cent to $1.28 per kg in November and by 1.56 per cent to $1.26 per kg in December 2023, according to historical price data from TexPro. 

In Pakistan's domestic market, PSF was priced at $1.27 per kg in the first week of the current month. The prices were $1.25 per kg in June 2023. PSF has experienced limited volatility in the subsequent months, settling at $1.27 per kg in December 2023.
