Polyester specialised yarn strengthened in the Surat market due to strong demand from the weaving industry. Prices rose by ****;*–* per kg for fully drawn yarn (FDY) and bright varieties. A recent hike in virgin polyester staple fibre (PSF) also supported the price increase in these products. However, polyester spun yarn traded at stable prices. A trader from Surat told Fibre2Fashion, “Higher PSF costs and better demand are driving the price rise in polyester specialised yarn. The return of workers to the weaving industry has further boosted demand. The industry is trying to build sufficient stock of various fabric types ahead of the festival season. The market also expects better yarn buying to fulfil garment export orders.”
