The Ludhiana market has observed a rise in recycled fibre and recycled polyester yarn. Recycled polyester fibre increased by ****;*-* per kg over the past fortnight, while recycled polyester yarn also gained ****;*-* per kg. Interestingly, polyester yarn made from virgin fibre did not experience any price rise. Polyester cotton yarn also remained stable during the same period. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, "Virgin polyester fibre did not see much gain in proportion to the rise in crude oil prices. However, recycled polyester fibre surged by up to ****;* per kg. Producers of recycled polyester fibre are seeing strong demand due to the economic benefits of the product. Increased demand and higher PET bottle costs pushed fibre prices up. Nevertheless, the polyester value chain is not receiving encouraging demand from the fabric and garment industries."
