Indian viscose yarn gains amid shortage; polyester slips

Viscose yarn has experienced limited supply from both domestic manufacturers and global sources. The shortage of supplies has further fuelled viscose yarn prices. Viscose yarn prices have increased by &#****;*-* per kg in the Surat and Mumbai markets. A trader from the Surat market told Fibre2Fashion, “The current price rise is driven by supply shortages. Buyers are actively looking for raw materials ahead of the Eid festival and wedding season. The rising US dollar against the Indian rupee has also increased the landed cost of viscose yarn. Higher import costs have further discouraged supplies from the global market."

In Mumbai, imported **-count viscose vortex yarn was priced at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-*.**) per kg, while local **-count ring-spun viscose yarn was priced at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-*.**) per kg. In Surat, **-count viscose compact yarn (local) was sold at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-*.**) per kg (GST extra), and **-count viscose vortex yarn was priced at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-*.**) per kg.
