Mixed trend in India's poly spun yarn even as PC prices remain high

  • India's polyester yarn prices showed a mixed trend today, with polyester-cotton yarn selling at higher prices while poly spun yarn eased down in Ludhiana due to reduced demand. However, the Surat market witnessed mild gains. Additionally, the price cut in polyester raw materials like PTA and MELT by Reliance on Friday put pressure on market sentiments.

Polyester yarn gained &#****;*-* per kg in Ludhiana, while prices improved in the Surat market. There was a bearish trend in Ludhiana due to poor demand. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, “Demand from the downstream industry was very poor. Poly spun and PC yarn could not sustain at previous levels. But PC yarn performed better.” 

In Ludhiana, ** count PC combed yarn (**/**) was sold at &#****;***-*** per kg (GST inclusive), ** count PC carded yarn (**/**) was priced at &#****;***-*** per kg, and ** count poly spun yarn was sold at &#****;***-*** per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at &#****;**-** per kg, and the raw material also eased down by &#****;*-* per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
