South Indian cotton yarn prices flat as summer demand yet to pick up

In Mumbai, cotton yarn prices remained close to earlier levels. Demand for finer counts was subdued as summer-related demand has not yet materialised. A trader in the Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “Power looms and auto looms are operating at barely ** per cent capacity. Worker shortages have led to slower cotton yarn demand. Fabric demand is also weak, as garment manufacturing activity remains limited.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarn of warp and weft varieties were traded at &#****;*,***-*,*** (~$**.**-**.**) and &#****;*,***-*,*** per * kg (~$**.**-**.**) (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices include ** combed warp at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg, ** carded weft at &#****;*,***-*,*** (~$**.**-**.**) per *.* kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg and **/** combed warp at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg, according to trade sources.
