US tariff worries curb north India cotton yarn demand

Cotton yarn prices dipped by &#****;* per kg in Ludhiana. While spinning mills kept their prices unchanged, traders and stockists reduced their offer prices due to weak demand from the consumer industry. A Ludhiana trader told Fibre*Fashion, “The cotton yarn market is more sensitive to US tariff developments. The recent ** per cent tariff on Iran’s trading partners has caused fresh concern after the earlier threat of *** per cent tariffs. Buyers have become cautious and are purchasing only for immediate needs.”

In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg and &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.
