US cotton export sales for the week ending October 2 recorded a sharp rebound in Upland cotton demand. Net sales for the 2025–26 marketing year rose to 199,000 running bales (RB), each weighing 226.8 kg, more than double the previous report’s 86,100 RB. This represents a 131 per cent week-on-week rise, significantly exceeding the prior four-week average. The report was released on November 21, 2025, following delays caused by the US federal shutdown.

According to the USDA’s delayed update, buying was led by Vietnam, Turkiye, India, Bangladesh and China, a shift from the previous week when India, Turkiye, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Italy were the top buyers. Modest reductions were reported for Pakistan and Mexico.

Export shipments of Upland cotton totalled 137,000 RB, almost unchanged from the previous week’s 137,200 RB, and around 6 per cent above the four-week average. The top destinations were Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, China and Turkiye, in line with the strong demand pattern seen in recent weeks.

Net sales of Pima cotton reached 8,200 RB, slightly below the prior week’s 8,500 RB, marking a 4 per cent decline, but still holding comfortably above the four-week average. The main buyers were India, Pakistan, Peru, Bangladesh and Vietnam, whereas Colombia dominated purchases in the earlier report.

Pima export shipments stood at 4,800 RB, compared with the previous 5,200 RB, reflecting an 8 per cent week-on-week decrease and 17 per cent drop from the four-week average. India remained the leading destination, followed by Peru, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
