BASF, the world's leading chemical company, has announced an increase in prices for Ethylenediamine (EDA), a primary raw material in the manufacturing of nylon by $150/mt in the Asia Pacific region with immediate effect or as existing contracts permit.

The several applications of EDA include polyamides, textiles, lubricants and fuel additives. EDA is also used in the synthesis of chelating agents and for low-temperature-active bleaching agents, building block for crop protection agents.

Trading into five segments: chemicals, performance products, oil and gas, functional materials and solutions, and agricultural solutions, BASF generated a business of more than €70 billion in 2015. (NA)
