Australia-based Super Retail Group (SRG) noted a 26.3 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—Scopes 1 & 2—from the fiscal 2017 (FY 2017) base year, and an 11.4 per cent reduction from FY 2022. Additionally, there has been a 2.9 per cent reduction in total electricity usage, down to 78,357 MWh.

SRG has also made significant strides in recycling initiatives. The diversion rate across stores, support offices, and distribution centres has reached 58.5 per cent. Rebel and Macpac’s in-store collections have led to the recycling of 81,643 pairs of shoes, according to the SRG 2023 Sustainability Report.

Since the launch of Macpac’s ‘Refuse a Bag’ initiative in 2018, over 1.6 million bags have been refused. This initiative aligns with SRG’s dedication to reducing single-use plastics.

The report also highlighted financial contributions to sustainability initiatives, including $350,000 contributed to OzFish and an additional $634,465 raised through BCF Stores. Furthermore, 100 stores received new LED lighting, accounting for 13 per cent of the group's fleet, and Macpac’s Fund for Good provided $165,870 in grants and gear.

The crowning achievement was the Best Partnership Award, awarded to OzFish and BCF at the 10th World Recreational Fishing Conference. This award underscores the collaborative efforts between the organisations and the SRG’s commitment to sustainable practices.
