Retail turnover in the Netherlands increased by 3.1 per cent year on year (YoY) in October 2025 while sales volume rose by 1.6 per cent, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
The non-food segment grew by 3.1 per cent, reflecting broad-based consumer spending resilience. After adjusting for calendar effects, October’s growth stood at 3.1 per cent; without this adjustment, turnover would have been 3.8 per cent higher.
Within non-food, sales rose 3.1 per cent, supported by a 2.5 per cent increase in volumes. Clothing shops posted a 2.2 per cent YoY rise in turnover, while footwear and leather goods surged 5.6 per cent, rebounding strongly from a decline in September. Home furnishings retailers also recorded higher sales, CBS said in a release.
Online retail turnover increased nearly 5 per cent YoY, driven by a 4.7 per cent rise among pure online players and more than 5 per cent growth among multi-channel retailers. Online turnover for clothing and fashion items declined.
