AI is already transforming retail—driving efficiency, reducing shrink, and enhancing customer experiences. The report, titled ‘Everseen Insights: The Future of AI in Retail’, highlighted retailers' plans for rapid AI adoption while emphasising the crucial need for transparency and consumer trust.
Consumers also recognise AI’s benefits, with 55 per cent comfortable using advanced retail technology and 65 per cent finding it enhances shopping convenience. Loss prevention remains a key concern, as 85 per cent of consumers believe theft drives higher prices, prompting 60 per cent of retailers to adopt AI solutions.
Transparency is essential, with 72 per cent of consumers seeking clearer information on AI usage in retail. Retailers are addressing this through various disclosure methods, including entrance signage (44 per cent), which 64 per cent of consumers find helpful, and self-checkout pop-ups, cited as effective by half of consumers.
“AI is already transforming retail—driving efficiency, reducing shrink, and enhancing customer experiences,” said Alan O’Herlihy, chief executive officer (CEO) of Everseen. “It is encouraging to see the shared perspective of consumers and retailers on how AI can improve the shopping experience. The insights from this report can help the industry align on key success factors for AI, including measurable impacts on shrink reduction and the importance of transparency.”
The report, based on a survey of 200 loss prevention retail executives and more than 1,000 US consumers, reveals key insights into the evolving role of AI in retail operations and shopper interactions.
