The world's biggest online retailer Amazon will open its eighth fulfillment centre in Coppell, Texas in addition to the recently announced two fulfillment centre in San Marcos and Houston, both in Texas and currently under construction. The retailer currently employs more than 10,000 full time hourly persons at its five existing Texas fulfillment centres.

Amazon currently manages fulfillment centres in Coppell, Haslet, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Schertz in the state of Texas.

Amazon employees at the one-million-square-foot Coppell fulfillment centre will pick, pack and ship larger customer items like big screen televisions, kayaks, and patio furniture.

“Our ability to expand Texas operations within three short years is the result of two things, incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in the state,” Akash Chauhan, vice president of North American Operations at Amazon said. (AR)
