The world’s biggest online retailer Amazon is planning to open its first fulfilment centre in Colorado. The planned one million square foot Aurora city based facility, is expected to create more than 1,000 new full time jobs, in addition to the hundreds of associates, currently employed at the Amazon sorting centre located in the same city.

Amazon employees at the Aurora fulfilment centre will pick, pack and ship larger customer items, such as sports equipment, musical instruments and furniture.

“We are excited to create 1,000 new full-time jobs in Colorado that pay 30 per cent higher than traditional retail jobs and receive comprehensive benefits starting on day one,” said Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s vice president of North America Operations. “One of the benefits we are most proud of is Career Choice, in which Amazon pre-pays 95 per cent tuition for courses related to in-demand fields.” (AR)
