The world’s biggest online retailer Amazon said it is planning to open a 1.2 million square foot fulfilment centre in North East, Maryland and plans to create 700 new positions at this third Maryland facility. The online retailer currently employs more than 3,000 associates at its other two Maryland fulfilment and sorting centres in Baltimore.
“We are excited to open a new, state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in North East, creating hundreds of full-time jobs that offer wages 30 per cent higher than traditional retail stores and include comprehensive benefits,” said Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations. (AR)
