The Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce is encouraging e-commerce in the city and is aiming at the value of transactions to exceed 2.5 trillion yuan ($385 billion) by the end of 2018. The commission is planning to upgrade and increase online trade by promoting development of internet and logistics this year, according to a Chinese news agency report.

Beijing city administration will frame policies for training couriers and also lay down standards for delivery vehicles to promote well-coordinated development of logistics and e-commerce.

As a result, the number of companies providing products and services online are expected to increase. The number of wholesalers and retailers indulging in e-commerce activities are also likely to increase.

Moreover, the city administration will also assist small and medium enterprises to embrace e-commerce, and also promote online trade in residential and rural areas, the report said. (RKS)
