In its results released for fiscal ending January 31, 2017, Inditex, the world's largest apparel retailer said its fast fashion brand Zara will be sold online in India, one of the world’s fastest growing ecommerce markets. Alongside India, Inditex will start online retailing for Zara in other markets like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam in 2017.

According to a leading daily, Inditex entered the Indian market in 2010 in a joint venture with Trent, the retail arm of the Tata Group. The retailer currently manages 21 stores across eight Indian cities, while operating 7,200 outlets across the world.

Zara emerged as one of the fast growing lifestyle apparel brands in India and reported sales of Rs 842 crore in fiscal 2016, up 17 per cent over fiscal 2015. (AR)
