Fashion conscious males spell business for retailers

Leading apparel maker Phillips-Van Heusen (PVH) estimates quarterly sales between $470 and $475 million, registering 14 percent to 15 percent increase over the year before same quarter.
Dress shirts represent 25 percent of the total sales, for Phillips-Van Heusen, which makes dress shirts for the Van Heusen, Chaps, Kenneth Cole, Geoffrey Beene, and Calvin Klein brands, says Mark Weber, CEO of Phillips-Van Heusen.
About 61 percent shoppers bought wrinkle-free clothes last year, 47 percent bought stain-resistant quality, 45 percent water-repellent quality and 38 percent bought adjustable waistbands quality, noted the research firm NPD Group.
