Naming a new men’s clothing store as 'Hitler' has invoked the ire of the small Jewish community residing in Ahmedabad, in western Indian state of Gujarat.

The handful Jewish population of the local synagogue has objected to the outlet’s name, as it reminds them of the atrocities inflicted on innocent civilians by the German dictator.

Jewish representatives have urged the proprietor of the apparel store to change the name as it is an insult to the sufferings of many Jewish people during the Second World War.

According to the owner of the garment store, Hitler was a nickname given to one of the proprietors' grandfather because of his strict nature.
