For accelerating their expansion in the Chinese market, Italian clothing brands will have to change their concept of mainly selling top luxury apparel items, according to analysts.

They say Italian garment sector should now aim at catering to mid-end menswear market in China, if the industry wants to achieve speedy growth in the Chinese market.

In recent years, a more mature market has been created in China for casual apparels offered by luxury brands, mainly due to the increasing demand of business casual clothing.

In fact, apparel brands, both domestic and foreign, that offer economic yet fashionable products are being favoured by consumers and have expanded rapidly in China during the last few years.

According to a survey, it is estimated that about a quarter of Chinese men would spend over 60 percent of their total expenses on clothing and accessories, especially those who are in financial services and business that require higher degree of clothing decency.

Experts also opine that Italian clothing brands should expand their shares in the Chinese market through Internet, which may offer tremendous opportunities for expansion of Italian clothing industry in China.
