Animal-inspired prints were a big part of the eclectic pattern mixing going on at the European runway shows, with Dutch designer Tumble 'n Dry showing gorgeous tiger print winter girls coats paired playfully with striped skinny jeans. Others meshed dots, stripes, hearts and other bold geometric shapes for a playful, young-at-heart feel, such as Deux par Deux's collection of knit tops, skirts and dresses, all paired with perfectly mismatched hats and leggings.

As for tween clothing trends, runway styles ranged from ornate, garden-fresh patterns -- like Roberto Cavalli's stunning floral tunic tops and Boboli's folklore-inspired fields of tulips and poppies, all paired with an understated, smoky gray -- to lux, elegant colors and fabrics, like Berlingot's velvet ribbons and faux fur, Smash's signature lush style, and carefully paired prints and patterns at Lofff.

Girls footwear trends reflected this eclectic fusion of rich elegance and whimsical styles, as well. Cowboy boots dressed up in shiny, sparkly finishes graced several fall 2013 collections, such as Little Mass, while the boot trend continued with tough, urban-edgy looks from Isobella & Chloe and Barcarola.
