The clothing retailers of India are pinning hopes on the end of season sales because of an increase in footfalls this year as compared to last year.

According to the apparel retailers in the country, customers are responding positively to the end of season sales this year.

Speaking to fibre2fashion, Mr. Punit Agarwal, CEO and Promoter of Promart Retail, said, “We have already seen 150 percent jump in sales in the last few days and the cities that have performed well are Dharwad, Sawai Madhopur, Rajkot, Vapi, Indore, Jalandhar.”

Mr. Amon Dhillon, vice-president of strategy and planning at Woodlands, says, “We are expecting 25 percentage boost in sales as compared to last year since we are witnessing strong growth in footfalls and sales in last few days.”

Echoing him, Mr. Swapan Dutta, president of retail at Monte Carlo, says, “We are expecting a very good result this year because we are receiving good response from the customers.”

According to Mr. Agarwal, the focus for the initial 15 days will be to give a flat 50 percent discount on MRP for almost all products and the latter half of the month will comprise of tweaking the model to ensure more walk-ins. Depending on the sales we generate, we plan to introduce a scheme wherein consumers can buy two products and get three products free on this purchase.

The garment retailers have preponed the end of season sales this year to attract the customers to their shops since they witnessed weak sales during the summer season.
