A study by Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce reveals with Passover approaching fast, retail sales are bound to grow almost 20 percent.

Passover or Pesach is a 8-day Jewish ritual to celebrate the day when Israelis were finally freed from the clutches of the Pharaoh.

Sales of food, fashion, durable goods and housewares are expected to rise

Statistics show that retail sales are expected to be around 18 percent during the Passover, whereas sales are likely to decline 13 percent in the next month.

Figures for the past four years show that the retail sales rose sharply by almost 36 percent at the apporach and during Passover, and dropped 27 percent in the following month.

Footwear sales rose around 28 percent prior to the festival but dropped by over 30 percent in the following month.
