Apparel account for 3.4% of Spanish e-commerce in Q1 2013

Clothing items accounted for 3.4 percent of the total revenue earned through e-commerce in Spain, according to the data for the first quarter of 2013 released by the Telecommunications Commission (CMT).
 
January to March 2013 period saw e-commerce in Spain growing by 15.1 percent year-on-year to €2.822 billion, which is a new record, as per the report on electronic commerce published by the CMT.
 
The report said there were 43.5 million transactions during the three-month period, representing a growth of 18.6 percent year-on-year.
 
Transactions on the Internet from abroad that were bound for Spain increased by a sharp 34.1 percent year-on-year to €463 million.
 
Online trading within Spain grew 11.3 percent year-on-year, while transactions with operations abroad increased by 12.6 percent year-on-year.
 
Of all the transactions, the amount invoiced by Spanish websites was €1.602 billion or around 56.8 percent of the turnover.
 
Region-wise, European Union was the preferred destination for shopping online, followed by the United States.
