Online shopping transactions for clothing are growing at a rapid pace in China and the current annual transaction amounts to 318.88 billion yuan, which is about one-fourth of all apparel sales in the Chinese domestic market, Sun Rui Zhe, vice president of China Textile Industry Association said recently.

Sun Rui Zhe estimates online garment shopping transaction in China to be close to 1 trillion yuan by 2016.

The rapid growth in online shopping is also leading to a change in consumption patterns.

Zhe said the current macroeconomic situation is giving new opportunities to China’s textile industry, and the demand is likely to grow for textiles and clothing, and domestic industries are likely to broaden sales channels.
