This coming fall fashion chain KappAhl opens up for collection of textiles for reuse and recycling in their stores.

Taking care of discarded textiles is one of our industries great environmental challenges, says KappAhl's Head Sustainability Fredrika Klarén. More places for textile collection contributes to making sustainable behavior even more accessible to the many people that are our customers.

Studies show that people in Sweden throw away more than half of the textiles that are put on the market in the bin for incineration. During a few weeks in August KappAhl will, in some of its stores, evaluate collecting discarded textiles for reuse and recycling. The plan is to launch the service in all of KappAhl’s stores this autumn.

There are many important uses for discarded textiles, says Frederica Klarén. Our aim is for them to be reused in different ways, for example in the development of technology to produce new textile fibers from recycled materials.
