Emphasizing on the need to cater to a broader range of customers, Wal-Mart President and CEO Lee Scott addressing the company's annual meeting, stated the company required to expand its field.

Describing about the world's leading retailer core US customer as one who has to save money in order to get by, he stressed adding consumables as a potential target product for expanded sales.

Scott said, “When it comes to buying domestics or apparel, that customer isn't shopping with us. They go somewhere else where they believe they find items more suitable to their taste,” he said, noting that the spring addition of 400-count sheets addresses that segment.

Speaking about Wal-Mart's global procurement and product development teams he inferred that they are getting closer together — “putting us right where fashion exists.”

Wal-Mart Stores Inc operates Wal-Mart Stores, Super-centers, Neighborhood Markets and SAM'S CLUB locations in the United States.

Internationally, the company operates in Puerto Rico, Canada, China, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, United Kingdom, Argentina, and South Korea.
