China & India to be top sourcing hubs

The Global Sourcing Survey 2008 revealed that 21 per cent of companies did not know what savings to expect from global sourcing. Cost is the main driver for retailers seeking global sourcing, yet many companies are unclear on cost savings,

The most common costs citied were the ones that are easiest to track, including transportation, logistics and warehousing. Those costs that companies found difficult to put a finger on included compliance costs, running short of stocks and quality costs.

For some enterprises, global sourcing is now so commonplace that the cost savings generated, do not provide a competitive advantage anymore.
