Revenue per store matters, outlet numbers doesn't!

This is the sole reason that a lot of apparel retailers like Macy's are winding up operations of a lot of non-productive stores, as these non-performing stores are a burden on the business as well as the profits therein generated from the same.

In the ranking, we have not considered stores like Wal-Mart and Target, which have a sales vertical of apparels, but since alongside also have other lines of business which includes food, cosmetics, home care products etc. But we would still like to provide a food for thought and something to chew on to our readers. Wal-Mart had a yield per store of an overwhelming $51.43 million in 2006 and $52.16 million in 2007.
