In a bid to protect religious values and the achievements of the Islamic revolution and to preserve society's security and morals, the police force in Iran has banned the use of curvaceous female mannequins and the sale of Western-inspired clothing in an effort to preserve morality.

Store owners were told to restrain using mannequins with curves, the appearance of wearing makeup or that lacked headscarves, due to their distracting nature, along with forbidding display and supply in stores of western brands or items with cheap designs.

The government has put a ban on male store clerks handling items of women's undergarments and prohibited the display of neckties, considered a Western garment and also enforcing clothing shops to register their goods to ensure they met Islamic standards.
