In a bid to help Indian offline merchants during cash crunch following demonetisation, ShopClues has introduced Reach to facilitate easy cashless transactions without an application. Launched under the Business Edge initiative of the e-retail company, Reach is an SMS-based service that does not require installing applications or e-wallets on smartphones.

The three-step payment mechanism by ShopClues directly transfers payments of all scales and sizes to the merchant's bank account. Available at an introductory offer of 0 TDR on transactions and Rs 99 per month, Reach can be used by merchants affiliated to ShopClues or by offline shopkeepers.

Sellers need to simply send a message to buyers with a link to various payment gateways like credit and debit cards, net banking and e-wallets and buyers can make payments according to their preferences. Dedicated applications are not required for the process, however, an internet connection is a must.

The new service by ShopClues is in line with the government's initiative to support cashless transactions in the country. (KD)
