In a countrywide consumer study done by BusinessWorld Group in partnership with Nielsen, India's biggest online retailer Flipkart has emerged as the 'Ecommerce Company of the Year' for which it received an award at the Golden Carts Awards 2016. The consumer survey was done in 16 cities across India by rating 85 ecommerce platforms across 14 core categories.

According to media reports, the online retailer and its various subsidiaries like Myntra and Jabong together, also bagged seven other awards across various categories like fashion, children's clothing, electronics, FMCG, beauty and equipment and toys.

The survey was based on several research parameters like web traffic, nomination and recall among consumers to arrive at the most favourite website among consumers who have shopped in the past six months.

The findings of the survey recognised the various innovations from Flipkart to continuously improve ecommerce shopping experience for Indians.

A recent research by Redseer indicated that the ecommerce market is expected to witness a compound annual growth rate of 45 to 50 per cent over the next few years. (AR)
