The faster annual increase in the index of clothing and footwear at 2.2 per cent in December from 1.8 per cent in the previous month contributed to the uptrend of the headline inflation.
The country’s annual average inflation rate for last year stood at 1.7 per cent—lower than the 2024 annual average inflation rate of 3.2 per cent, a release from the Philippine Statistics Authority said.
Lower annual average inflation rates were recorded in 2025 for clothing and footwear: 1.8 per cent from 3.2 per cent in 2024.
The seasonally-adjusted consumer price index (CPI) for all items exhibited a month-on-month (MoM) increment of 0.7 per cent in December last year from a nil growth rate in November.
Faster monthly increases were observed for the seasonally-adjusted CPI of clothing and footwear: 0.5 per cent in 2025 from 0.2 per cent in 2024.
