Online retail turnover in March 2023 increased by 3.4 per cent YoY. Web shops recorded a turnover increase of 9.3 per cent, whereas multi-channel retailers achieved 4.2 per cent lower turnover in online sales. Moreover, online turnover of other non-food products was higher in March 2023 compared to March 2022, while the online turnover of clothing and fashion items was lower.
Retail turnover data were adjusted for the shopping-day pattern in March, as retail sales tend to vary from one day to the next. Without accounting for the shopping-day pattern, retail turnover in March 2023 was 5.1 per cent higher than in the same month last year, as per CBS.
However, in March, turnover in the non-food sector contracted by 1.5 per cent year on year. The volume of sales (turnover adjusted for price changes) decreased by 9.6 per cent compared to the same month last year. Shops selling recreational goods, clothes, footwear, and leather products recorded a decrease in March.
