This slight decline was attributed primarily to a downtrend in food inflation, which eased slightly to 7.08 per cent in the month from 7.64 per cent in September.
The non-food inflation rate, however, increased to 9.13 per cent in October from 8.98 per cent in the preceding month, domestic media outlet reported.
Meanwhile, inflation in the rural areas declined, while it witnessed a slight rise in urban areas last month.
